Ponting will make life difficult for Tendulkar

Ricky Ponting, the captain of the Australian cricket team has saddled up with his choice weapons to counter Sachin Tendulkar’s (and the rest of the Indian cricket team’s) batting .

Ponting vowed to make life difficult for Sachin Tendulkar in the upcoming mammoth battle against India and Australia in the four match cricket test series.

If you’ve a keen eye for Cricket stats and bombastic records, you may know that Sachin Tendulkar might just break Brian Lara’s records into tiny little pieces by the end of the series. He would surpass Lara’s record of scoring the highest number of runs in Test Matches.

Tendulkar is sitting pretty at 11,877 Test runs…Lara before retiring managed to rake up 11,953 runs…. Surely a piece of cake for maestro Sachin. Although Ponting thinks otherwise. He would do his utmost to make Sachin bat against live grenades hurled at him while Ponting’s demons hunch around him, ready to snare.

"I don't have too many great memories of him,” Ponting said, “for he tends to score heavily against us. But I have the highest regard for him. Sachin is a true champion, one of the all-time greats of the game and reaching this milestone would be a great reward for him,"
"But we are here to win and know pretty well that we have to get rid of him early if we are to win here. We have come here with a few plans for him and hope our plans would click,"

Brett Lee, who will spearhead the attack had some kind words for Sachin Tendulkar too.

"He is a world class player who has proved himself over more than a decade. You talk about (Don) Bradman, you talk about Lara, Sachin and probably Ricky...It's an honour to bowl to Sachin and getting his wicket is the ultimate prize,"
